And not a little bit Scary." *
But that's just what my ex says. And lets face it, he was rubbish in bed.
It isn't that I dislike children (yes it is) or that I am purposely resisting motherhood (yes it is). It's really just that I am absolutely sick to death of it being the expected course of action. As though any woman who isn't interested in having children is somehow wasting her life or will wake up one day filled with regrets.
Well I woke up this morning and thought, "My God I would have regretted missing last night."
And that's just the way I like it.
My moniker (The Barreness) is a celebration of the empty womb and full life I enjoy.

So I've started this blog to throw the old two fingers (or one finger, depending on your particular side of the "pond") up to societal expectations surrounding motherhood, gender roles and sexual equality. It is here that I will muse on the differences between my former homeland (USof A) and my current one (U of K?) and on the relative merits of "trimmed" vs "au naturale" where male genitalia is concerned.
I think these perfectly reasonable discussion fodder and encourage debate on similar life-altering issues.

I will warn you that in this place I am free to flout the rules of grammar and spelling whilst maintaining the right to make merciless fun of anyone else who does, and where the word "fuck" is appreciated for the wonderfully versatile addition to our language that it is, and therefore liberally splashed about. So if you're at all offended by:
sex,
drugs,
rock and roll,
nudity,
foul language,
foreign languages,
the language of love,
battery operated devices,
alcohol consumption,
nicotine, or
professionally successful and financially independent women...
I suggest you move along.
Be naughty,
** Moniker also a nod to the nasty little disease which led to the removal of big chunks of uterus and said barren state. Mother nature is a f*cking genius.

B, thanks for having this site. I've been entertained and disturbed by your words. The only objection I have about your lack of children is the fact that the world will be deprived of some really cool kids. Although I have concerns about how many damn people there are on the planet, I'm really only concerned about all the dumb ass people on the planet. Now if we could just get rid of some of them. thanks

i wanna fuck this competition
Finally! A woman after my own heart. I get so sick of the looks I get from women when I say that I don't want children. If it happens, it happens, but by no means am I trying for it. And I'm doing everything that is humanly possible (barring the actual removal of sex from my life) to prevent getting pregnant. And your gratuitous use of the wonderful word "fuck" in all of its various forms is exactly what any blog needs. I, too, love this word and can't remember what life was like before I began incorporating it into my every day vocabulary. Thanks for this blog!
you're fucking awesome and your blog is fucking awesome. i'm both in love and insanely jealous in equal measure.
Ok.. so the truth of it is that I have children... to each her own.. I love my boys dearly.. and spent a long time waiting for them..
However..
There is a part of me that completely relates to (some) of your thoughts.. I have an inner free-spirited bitch who longs to tell the world to go fuck itself...
At last I have found a blog that allows me that little pleasure..
A friend just threw your address my way due to our common interests........and, yes! In fact, after just a few minutes on your site I discovered that a FB ``friend`` has been flipping me off, and here I thought it was a peace sign since hailing from the other side of ``the pond.`` Lots to learn and love to smile, will be reading you...
Completely fascinated by your blog. Mine is dull in comparison, but just started today. WOW!
You are amazing... Why can't I find one of you in Canada...
Oh keep looking. There are some in Canada. Believe me.
Here is to a New Year and some new friends! I just found this site and I am hooked - love it. The world needs ballsy women and frankly what you do with your womb or your life is nobody's business but yours - - thank you.
Think it, say it, do it =- be the sexy woman you are.
